 A Healthcare System that Works for Everyone.We will join 36 other industrialized nations in making sure everyone has access to affordable health care, starting by fixing the prescription drug program and investing in stem cell and other medical research.
California Democratic Party: Health Care Platform. California Democrats believe that health care is a right not a privilege. Sadly, one in five Californians live without health insurance and millions more are underinsured -- just one accident, diagnosis or illness away from physical and financial crisis. This is unconscionable. All persons should have universal comprehensive health care that provides coverage for all Californians - individuals and families as well as businesses, small and large - and which covers the full range of necessary benefits, including prevention and prescriptions; and establishes quality standards and embraces efficiencies to reduce waste and administrative costs and assure affordability.
Research Documents Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit - An Empty Promise. Many seniors are led to believe
this legislation will pay for their prescription drugs but will be surprised to learn they still have to pay a lot, in many cases most of the costs.
Bush's Medicare Gift to the Drug Industry. A plan like this could
only have been written by drug companies for drug companies. How the Bush Administration betrayed America's seniors to pad the pockets of the pharmaceutical industry.
Medicare Prescription Drug Cost Scandal. Republicans withheld costs to push through a flawed policy benefiting the pharmaceutical industry, not America’s Seniors. Americans deserve better. Democrats demand an honest vote on real costs.
Republican Medicare Bribery Scandal. The Bush Administration and Congressional Republican Leadership did not have the votes to pass the seriously flawed Medicare bill, so the vote was held open for a record two-hours-and-51-minutes as special deals were offered. America deserves better.
