and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Resolution-Opposing-Proposed-Changes-to-the-San-Jose-Mobilehome-Rent-Ordinance-Beyond-AB-2782-Compliance.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Resolution Opposing Proposed Changes to the San Jos\u00e9 Mobilehome Rent Ordinance Beyond AB 2782 Compliance<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, for nearly four decades the City of San Jos\u00e9\u2019s Mobilehome Rent Ordinance (MRO) has protected seniors, low-income families, and fixed-income residents by embedding rent stabilization and vacancy control protections directly in municipal law,&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Resolution-Recognizing-April-as-National-Sexual-Assault-Awareness-Month-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Resolution Recognizing April as National Sexual Assault Awareness Month<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, victims of sexual violence include individuals of all ages, genders, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds, with marginalized and vulnerable populations disproportionately impacted; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-edc6dfd3-bca8-4ba0-83e3-45c0bf81ac8b\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Resolution-Opposing-the-Candidacy-of-Rishi-Kumar.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Resolution Opposing the Candidacy of Rishi Kumar as County Assessor<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, Rishi Kumar, a candidate for Santa Clara County Assessor, served as Chair of the No on Measure A campaign, and publicly alleged that County community information mailers distributed during the Measure A campaign, which described the impact of federal funds cuts on county services but did not mention or endorse Measure A, represented misuse of public funds; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Resolution-for-A-Safe-South-Bay-for-All.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resolution for A Safe South Bay for All<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, the California Bay Area and Silicon Valley are global centers of innovation and social progress, where working people have led efforts to establish high standards for economic fairness, worker dignity, and human rights; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Resolution-on-U.S.-Policy-and-the-Humanitarian-Crisis-in-Palestine.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Resolution on U.S. Policy and the Humanitarian Crisis in Palestine<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS the US-funded Israeli genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza with the forced displacement of the indigenous population and the occupation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem where Palestinians experience constant dehumanization, land theft, home demolitions, apartheid,&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Resolution-on-Human-Rights-in-Gaza.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resolution on Human Rights in Gaza<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, the horrific humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza caused by the conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in the documented loss of over 60,000 lives and the displacement of 1,700,000 Palestinians, and widespread destruction, prompting calls for immediate action for a cease-fire,&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Resolution-Decrying-Trump-Administration-Requirements.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resolution Decrying Trump Administration Requirements that Religious Institutions Cooperate with ICE<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS the Trump Administration has demanded that religious institutions receiving funds under the NSGP cooperate with ICE raids, that they not engage in any program which assists illegal immigrants, and that they cease operating any programs&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Resolution-Supporting-the-Right-of-Legislative-Staff-to-Organize.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resolution Supporting the Right of Legislative Staff to Organize<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, the legislative staff of the San Jos\u00e9 City Council and Mayor provide essential support to elected officials, helping implement policies and programs that advance the values and priorities of the residents of San Jos\u00e9; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Resolution-to-Ban-Face-Masks-and-Require-Identification.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resolution to Ban Face Masks and Require Identification<\/a><\/span><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS the federal government, through the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), has launched broad &amp; cruel immigration enforcement efforts, deploying personnel from various federal agencies, including those within the Department of Justice,&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Resolution-to-Defend-Transgender-and-Other-LGBTQ-People.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Resolution to Defend Transgender and Other LGBTQ+ People<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS Trump has issued multiple executive orders specifically targeting transgender and other LGBTQ+ people, including orders purporting to recognize only two \u201csexes\u201d, male and female, as assigned at birth; halting gender affirming treatment of minors, military personnel, and others;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Resolution-to-Defend-Disabled-Persons-and-Their-Rights.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Resolution to Defend Disabled Persons and Their Rights<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS Trump\u2019s recent baseless rant blaming FAA hiring practices, including a program to hire qualified disabled persons, for the tragic midair crash last week in Washington, DC, threatens to further marginalize disabled persons and exacerbate already high levels of discrimination against them in hiring and employment, housing, transportation, and in many other aspects of daily life;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Resolution-to-Stop-the-Trump-Musk-Coup.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Resolution to Stop the Trump-Musk Coup<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS Trump has empowered Elon Musk and others to dismantle, disrupt, undermine, and compromise government agencies and services, including by firing independent inspectors general and replacing them with Trump cronies,&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/Resolution-Protecting-the-Environment-and-Mitigating-Climate-Change-Under-Attacks-from-the-Trump-Administration-as-approved.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Resolution Protecting the Environment and Mitigating Climate Change under Attacks from the Trump Administration<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS the Trump administration declared a national emergency related to a supposed shortage of oil and gas production despite the fact that the U.S. is currently producing more oil and gas then any nation ever has, &#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/RESOLUTION-ON-PROMOTION-OF-RESPECT-FOR-MARGINALIZED-COMMUNITIES-AT-SUPER-BOWL-LX-as-approved.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Resolution on Promotion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Super Bowl LX<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS the halftime show for Super Bowl LVI, which took place in Inglewood, California in February 2022, featured four artists with a disturbing history of lyrics that have encouraged physical violence against LGBTQ+ individuals, &#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/RESOLUTION-CALLING-FOR-IMPEACHMENT-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Resolution Calling for the Impeachment of President Donald J. Trump<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS President Trump and his cabinet members have committed numerous illegal, reckless and treasonous acts that have damaged the functioning, security, and standing of the United States of America and, &#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Resolution-Recognizing-National-Immigrant-Heritage-Month-and-Calling-for-the-Protection-of-Civil-Rights-of-Our-Immigrant-Community.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" in the Congressional District 16 (\u201cCD 16\u201d) primary election, both earning spots in the November 2024 general election, along with Former Mayor Sam Liccardo; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Hate-has-No-Place-Decrying-the-Increase-in-US-Antisemitism-and-Islamophobia.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Hate has No Place: Decrying the increase in US Antisemitism, Islamophobia and Anti-Palestinian Hate<\/strong><\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Whereas,&nbsp;<\/strong>Jews represent approximately 3% of the California population but, according to CA Department of Justice data, 62.4% of religious based hate crimes in the state in 2022 were perpetrated against the Jewish community; Muslims represent approximately 1% of the California population but, according to CA Department of Justice data, 8.3% of religious based hate crimes in the state in 2022 were perpetrated against the Muslim community;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a to the Holy Land and attempts to erase their histories; the 17-year closure of Gaza which continues, Hamas\u2019 October 7 attack on Israel,&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a nationalist governments have been elected in a number of democracies including Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, the Philippines, Poland and Turkey, and far right parties have emerged in Brazil, The affordable housing crisis in our region continues to impact residents with various consequences including displacement and homelessness&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Resolution-In-Support-of-HR-2590.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution In Support of HR 2590<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, The Israeli government continues to pursue the forced expulsion of Palestinian families from their homes in East Jerusalem\u2019s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood; the Israeli police responded with disproportionate force to demonstrations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of Islam\u2019s holiest sites, during the month of Ramadan; subsequently, there has been violent unrest by extremist groups terrorizing Arab-Jewish towns and cities; attacking innocent people, Arab homes and businesses, churches and mosques; burning synagogues, theaters and cars; and other violent acts; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Resolution-in-support-of-AB-1400.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution in support of AB 1400, Single-Payer Legislation in the State of California<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, Currently, 3 million Californians have no health coverage, nearly one-third of all Californians who do have coverage reported delaying or skipping necessary health care over the last year due to cost, and the Covid-19 pandemic continues to ravage the state of California, disproportionately infecting and killing people of color and forcing millions of people out of work, thus exposing the unsustainability of the employer-provided insurance model, and;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Resolution-to-Stop-the-Republican-Recall-of-Governor-Gavin-Newsom.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution to Stop the Republican Recall of Governor Gavin Newsom<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, the effort to recall Governor Newsom is a partisan power grab spearheaded by Donald Trump\u2019s National Republican Party, the California Republican Party, and top Trump donors advocating to overturn fair elections, having already worked to delegitimize the American electoral process; and frivolously using California taxpayer dollars to fund this partisan ploy to derail the progress Governor Newsom has made to save lives, provide a safety net for struggling Californians as we are making significant strides returning our lives to normal; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Resolution-Condemning-the-Recent-Surge-in-Hate-Crimes-Targeting-Asian-Americans.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution Condemning the Recent Surge in Hate Crimes Targeting Asian Americans<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS. between March 19 and December 31, 2020, Stop AAPI Hate\u2014a hate-incident- reporting website launched by the Asian Pacific Policy and Planning Council and Chinese for Affirmative Action\u2014received 2,808 reported incidents of racism and discrimination targeting Asian Americans across the U.S., with over 700 occurring in the Bay Area, including incidents of verbal harassment, shunning, denial of access to services and public spaces, and physical assault, while experts consider the true number of incidents to be much higher due to underreporting&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Resolution-to-Endorse-SB-435-to-End-Online-Sex-Trafficking.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution to Endorse SB 435 to End Online Sex Trafficking<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS online sex trafficking can destroy the lives of victims due to the fact that millions of child sexual abuse photos and videos, and millions of other naked or sexual photos and videos that are made, obtained, or distributed by coercion, trickery, subterfuge, or theft, or which are made, obtained, or distributed without the knowledge or without or beyond the express permission, freely given, of the person whose identifiable likeness is in the photographs or videos&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/resolution-health-care-waivers.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution an Health Care Waivers<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS the Santa Clara County Democratic Party recognizes that the COVID-19 Pandemic has heightened the need for California to take the lead to guarantee health care to all. Trump and certain GOP Representatives and Senators have committed numerous treasonous offenses, the latest of which include repeated and baseless accusations that the federal election results were fraudulent, and encouraging and inciting lawless, armed mobs of white supremacists and extremist Trump supporters who hoisted Confederate and Trump flags and attacked Congress in our nation\u2019s Capitol on January 6, 2021&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2020\">2020<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sccdp.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Resolution-Exposing-Lan-Diep-as-a-Fake-Democrat.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution Exposing Lan Diep as a Fake Democrat<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS San Jose City Councilmember Lan Diep was a proud and avowed Republican until just recently and&nbsp;changed his registration to \u201cDemocratic\u201d&nbsp;only after the March 2020 primary election, in a cynical and dishonest attempt to deceive voters in District 4 into believing he shares their progressive values, when in fact he does not; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Di-Salvo-Resolution.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">A Resolution Condemning Gender-Bias by Santa Clara County Board of Education Trustee Joe Di Salvo<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, following complaints from Santa Clara County Board of Education staff and board members that Trustee Joseph Di Salvo engaged in demeaning communications and disagreements with female colleagues and staff,&nbsp;an independent investigator determined that Trustee Di Salvo\u2019s behavior was motivated, in part, by gender. When women were not doing what he wanted, Trustee Di Salvo made negative, critical, disrespectful, dismissive, demeaning and heated comments, the investigator determined&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Resolution-Calling-for-an-Increase-of-Public-Transportation-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution Calling for an Increase of Public Transportation in the Santa Clara County<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whereas according to the American Public Transport Association in 2018, cars made up 37.3% of United States Greenhouse gas emissions as opposed to 1% from buses, and the use of private passenger cars greatly contribute to climate change, whose burden will be greatest for the youngest generation through rising sea levels, pollution, and global warming,&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Resolution-Calling-For-Implementation-of-Ethnic-Studies-Curriculum-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution Calling for Implementation of Ethnic Studies Curriculum<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whereas the lack of BIPOC representation and incorporation in the education system has been shown to cause psychological damage to these marginalized students of color;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Resolution-re-Access-to-Student-Mental-Health-Services-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution Calling for the Preservation of Access to Student Mental Health Services<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whereas Santa Clara County has a history youth suicide and mental illness at considerably higher rates than the rest of the country. Further acknowledging that many of the factors that contribute to severe mental health issues begin in the home and disproportionately affect students of color, unstably housed and economically insecure students, and LGBTQ+ students;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Resolution-in-Defense-of-TransWomen-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution in Defense of TransWomen<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, the number of transWomen who have been brutally murdered in 2020 has risen to at least 15, including six transwomen who were murdered in the five weeks ending May 9, 2020 and two murdered the week of June 9, 2020 alone; this number reflects a disturbing increase from the 29 Trans people who were murdered in 2019, and the brutality and callousness of these murders,&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Resolution-to-Ban-Chokeholds-and-Tear-Gas-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution to Ban Chokeholds and Tear Gas in San Jose and Santa Clara County<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS the City of San Jose Police Department and the Santa Clara County Sheriff Departments have just executed a militaristic response to protests concerning police abuse, the response including: A curfew, para military riot gear, and rubber bullets and teargas; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Fair-Elections-Initiative-to-Ballot-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution in Support of Placing the Fair Elections Initiative on the November Ballot<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, the Santa Clara County Democratic Party (SCCDP) and a number of other allied organizations have endorsed the Fair Elections Initiative (FEI), which would reform San Jose elections by reducing the influence of special interest money in campaigns for Mayor and City Council and by increasing voter participation in mayoral elections&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Resolution-Opposing-DeVos-Rule-under-Title-IX-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution Opposing DeVos Final Rule on Campus and K-12 Sexual Assault and Harassment<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos recently issued a final rule under Title IX which guts protections for victims of sexual assault and harassment for college campuses and K-12 schools, the new rule among other things requiring colleges and universities to provide a live hearing before a panel in which a person accused of sexual assault or harassment has the right to cross-examine a complainant through an \u201cadvisor\u201d chosen by the accused&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/Resolution-re-Effects-of-Racism-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution Declaring Racism a Public Health Issue in California<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This measure would recognize that racism and oppression has dramatically affected the populations who experienced slavery, genocide, and forced relocation and continues to contribute to intergenerational\/historical trauma in millions of citizens in the State of California&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/SCCDP-Statement-on-Racial-Justice-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">SCCDP Statement on Racial Justice<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Santa Clara County Democratic Party joins those who are mourning the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and Tony McDade. We share in the anger and frustration that is propelling so many people into the streets to demonstrate and demand justice for Black lives being taken by those who are supposed to protect and serve. These injustices cannot continue&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Pay-for-Essential-Workers.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Pay for Essential Workers<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, many non-medical employees and contractors (e.g. gig workers) have been deemed \u201cessential\u201d yet have little or no sick pay; and WHEREAS those diagnosed with COVID-19 may have a month or more of time in which they are unable to work; and WHEREAS if an essential worker or a member of their household is suspected of having COVID-19 they must quarantine for at least 14 days to ensure both their and others\u2019 safety;&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/sccdp.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Coerced-Essential-Workers.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Coerced Essential Workers<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS many non-medical employees have been deemed \u201cessential\u201d and have been required to choose between either working in situations that now are highly dangerous, where they are repeatedly exposed to COVID-19, or taking leave without pay or the possibility of using unemployment benefits, and moreover these employees have often not been given the tools and procedures needed to ensure both their safety and that of the general public; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Transition-Away-from-Burning-of-Coal-and-Petroleum-coke.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Transition Away from Burning of Coal and Petroleum-coke<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS as devastating wildfires sweep across our state, fueled by climate-driven drought, extreme heat and high winds, the need for action on climate change has never been more urgent. To address this urgent issue, Santa Clara County has made a declaration of a climate emergency&#8230;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Lehigh-Southwest-Cement-Company-Permanente-Quarry-Reclamation-Plan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Lehigh Southwest Cement Company Permanente Quarry Reclamation Plan<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, the Permanente Quarry is within five miles from over 200,000 residents of Santa Clara County. WHEREAS; Lehigh Southwest Cement Plant and Permanente Quarry have a history of alleged local and federal violations; potentially exposing residents to air, water, and noise pollution; contaminating Permanente Creek, which the environment\u2026<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Xenophobic-and-Racist-actions-against-Asian-Americans.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Xenophobic and Racist actions against Asian Americans<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Whereas, as the spread COVID-19 has taken hold of the world, has threatened the lives of many, and push health care systems to the breaking point, there has been a rise of xenophobic hysteria and racist actions upon individuals of Asian-Pacific Islander heritage. From January 28 to February 24 there have been more than 1,000 reported cases of xenophobia actions against Asians in America (a rate of 37 cases per day) and throughout the world according to faculty from San Francisco State University&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Expansion-Of-COVID-19-Eviction-Protections.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Expansion Of COVID-19 Eviction Protections<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS, all residents of the County of Santa Clara (&#8220;the County&#8221;) are experiencing a declared state of emergency in response to the COVID-19 pandemic posing immediate and widespread risk of harm to human health and life, and, with exceptions for the provision or receipt of essential goods and services, are under official directives from the State of California (&#8220;the State&#8221;) and the County to shelter in place within their current residences; and&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Resolution to protect Juristac (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/sccdp.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Resolution-to-Protect-Juristac-as-adopted.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution to Protect Juristac<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS the Amah Mutsun Tribal Band is composed of descendants of Indigenous peoples who inhabited their ancestral lands in the Greater Monterey Bay region for thousands of years and hundreds of generations before they were forcibly removed and taken to Missions San Juan Bautista and Santa Cruz; who experienced three periods of colonization under Spanish, Mexican, and U.S. Californian rule, in which the colonizer attempted to dehumanize the Amah Mutsun and destroy their culture&#8230;  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Resolution on Youth Voice in the County Democratic Party (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/sccdp.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/resolution-31.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Resolution on Youth Voice in the County Democratic Party<\/a>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHEREAS persons under age 18 make up about 22 percent of Santa Clara County\u2019s population (thus, about 420,000 youth live in Santa Clara County), yet this age group is completely unrepresented on the Santa Clara County Democratic Central Committee;
