What an exciting opportunity for politically minded young people!  The DNC is looking enthusiastic future leaders between the ages of 20 and 24, who've had little previous exposure to politics, to participate in the Hope Institute 2013 program in Washington, D.C.

All costs are covered, including airfare, lodging and meals! The 40 selected participants will hear from senior campaign officials and others and gain strategies and contacts for launching political careers.

  • Democrats joined the Zumbathon last Saturday at the Movimiento en Mayfair to seeks to, a community wellness event supporting efforts to close the achievement gap in third grade reading in the Mayfair area. Our registration table was kept busy signing up brand new Democrats!
  • Central Committee needs volunteers:  We need a door monitor and someone to hand out and collect name badges.  Since the County Office Building closes at 6 pm, we need a door monitor from 6:15 to 7:15 to make sure Central Committee meeting attendees can get in.  We're also looking for someone to hand out name badges at the beginning of the meeting and collect them afterward.  If you're interested in either of these two important jobs, please call or email Judy Pipkin: 408-445-9500  or j.y.pipkin@aol.com.

Democratic Party Headquarters will be closed March 27-29 in honor of the Easter holiday. We will re-open Monday, April 1.



  • Our big event this week happens the first day of Spring when we kick off the new CDP Region 7 with a pre-convention Regional Meeting.  Come and meet candidates and all your fellow delegates from Assembly Districts 27,28,29, and 30   Wednesday, March 20, right here on HQ's 10th floor. (See Calendar entry above for more info.) It's a great way to get together with candidates and fellow delegates before the state convention in April.  This event is open to all Democrats. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP!

  • It's prom season! If happen to have a prom dress just hanging in your closet, City Councilmember Madison Nguyen is collecting them to share with girls who can't go to their prom because they can't afford a dress. Bring dresses in good condition to HQ, and we'll pass them along to Councilwoman Nguyen's office. We'll be collecting dresses through March.


  • A big thanks to Judith Wahlberg and her son, who donated 12 brand-new office chairs to HQ -- those really come in handy during big events and parties, not to mention smaller meetings and get-togethers.
