Democratic Clubs

Members of these clubs are interested in political issues and are active in endorsing candidates for public office and in their political campaigns. Some clubs are oriented toward specific issues or groups; others draw members from certain geographic areas. Most clubs meet once a month and publish a monthly newsletter. Below is a list of active clubs chartered by the Santa Clara County Democratic Central Committee, their orientations, and contacts. Call the President/Chair for specific information about meetings, membership, dues, and activities.

Afro Umoja Political Representation in Silicon Valley (AFRO-UPRIS)
OUR MISSION: Harvest and nurture the already activated grass roots Afro leadership and cultivate the political voice and power of the Black community in the Silicon Valley. Through unity and empowerment we aim to support our community to grow it’s next generation of Political leaders, stimulate political awareness and political action within the Black community; while advocating for African-Americans’ priorities to shape the agenda of Government and the Democratic Party.

Assyrian Democrats of the Bay Area (ADBA)
As Assyrian Americans, ADBA will provide a forum to help set a progressive agenda that would benefit our community at large. Our mission is summarized as follows:
  • Promote progressive values such as democracy, equality, and social and racial justice through education, participation and advocacy.
  • Empower Assyrian American political voices
  • Advance and protect the interest of Assyrian Americans Inspire and promote grassroots participation in the political and election process and voter registration drives
  • Assist Assyrian American Democrats who seek local political positions, statewide and nationally
  • Provide a vehicle through which members can participate at all levels of the Democratic Party
  • Provide a forum for communicating progressive ideas in the Assyrian community.

Democrats for Palestinian Rights Bay Area
The purpose of DPR-BA is to promote an equitable and just future for Palestinians through US domestic and foreign policy.

The DPR-BA will organize activities that promote leadership in political activities for Palestinians and allies, educate the community on relevant issue, political processes and issues of importance of the local Palestinian community and the Democratic Party, promote Palestinian-Americans and allies to office locally, statewide and nationally, and provide a vehicle through which its members may actively participate at all levels of the Democratic Party.

East Valley Democratic Club
The Milpitas Democratic Club was founded by Deepka Lalwani and served our community well in giving our voice to the Democratic in Milpitas. Times have changed and it’s now time to build a partnership and expand our club, build a partnership with our neighbors and expand our voice to all of East Side.

The new East Valley Democratic Club is a community of Democratic activists stretching from Milpitas to Berryessa, Alum Rock, Mt Pleasant, and Evergreen in Eastside San Jose as well as the County neighborhoods on East Foothills and Mt Hamilton Road. This is a inclusive community of Democratic’s who wants to give a voice to our communities and create a place where everyone feels welcomed.

Jewish Democratic Coalition of the Bay Area
JDCBA’s Purpose:
  • To foster democratic ideas by stimulating active interest in the Democratic Party, to support the party platform, contribute to party leadership and responsibility, to provide a constructive role for volunteers in Democratic politics, and to promote an activist base
  • To advocate for the values of the Jewish community including Tikkun Olam, social equality, justice, and the defense of a democratic, inclusive, secure Israel within the Democratic Party and its constituent parts

The largest club in the county, this organization draws its membership from across the peninsula area, both in Santa Clara County and San Mateo County. This club plays a critical role in voter registration, voter education, precinct organization and operating the north county Democratic election headquarters.

California Democratic Council

The CDC is the official statewide organization of grassroots Democratic clubs in California. CDC membership is open to any Democratic Club affiliated with its County Central Committee. AD Committees and Democratic Central Committees are also eligible to send representatives. A bottom-up organization, CDC policy is determined by vote of its delegates to its open Annual Convention and State Board meetings. Members of CDC-affiliated clubs may join statewide e-mail discussion groups and are also invited to lobby the State Legislature during our annual Lobby Day. Visit the CDC website at http://caldc.org

California Young Democrats

CYD is the official statewide organization of Young Democrats clubs throughout California, representing Democrats between the ages of 14 and 35. The organization also includes all the college Democrat clubs as well. Check out their statewide website at  https://cayoungdems.com
