Shape the Future of Democracy

Join Santa Clara County Democratic Interns and make a real impact on local politics through hands-on experience in voter engagement, policy research, and community organizing. The program accepts intern applicants on a year-round, rolling basis. Each week, interns will have to commit approximately 10 hours or the appropriate time needed to complete their assigned tasks.

What Our Interns Do 

  1. Voter Engagement / GOTV
    1. Get people excited about democracy and help them participate in the political process
    2. Host phone banks to reach voters directly
    3. Organize canvassing campaigns in neighborhoods
    4. Plan pre-protest parties and youth engagement events
    5. Set up tabling for voter registration drives
    6. Ensure every voice is heard by maximizing voter turnout during critical elections
    7. Coordinate voter contact operations
    8. Organize poll monitoring
    9. Plan election day logistics
  2. Youth Takeover Planning
    1. Lead our signature annual event where young voices shape the Democratic Party’s official positions
    2. Research and draft policy resolutions
    3. Coordinate with youth organizations across the county
    4. Organize presentation strategies
    5. Submit resolutions that become official party stances
  3. Data Analysis & Research
    1. Dive deep into the numbers and trends that drive political decision-making
    2. Analyze voter turnout patterns
    3. Research policy impacts and outcomes
    4. Track demographic trends
    5. Prepare briefings for party leadership
  4. Social Media & Communications
    1. Amplify our message and engage with the community through digital platforms
    2. Create advocacy campaigns for key issues
    3. Design informational content for voters
    4. Manage social media accounts
    5. Write articles for SCCDP Newsletter
  5. Fundraising
    1. Help loan and execute fundraisers
    2. Design merch for intern team
  6. Passion Projects
    1. Bring your own ideas to life and work on issues you care about most
    2. Develop initiatives based on your interests
    3. Lead special projects and campaigns
