Better candidates will run better campaigns, resulting in better office holders being elected.

The presentation will be given the third Thursday each month from February through April from 7 PM until 9 PM. Those dates are 2/19, 3/19, and 4/16. The presentation is the same each time. You do not need to attend more than once.

A Conversation with Ambassador Michael McFaul

The Democratic 21st Century Club invites you to join them for a special program to kick off the new year featuring a conversation with Michael McFaul, former U.S. Ambassador. Mr. McFaul currently serves as Director of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, the Ken Olivier and Angela Nomellini Professor of International Studies at the Department of Political Science, and Peter and Helen Bing Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, all at Stanford University. He is also an international affairs analyst for NBC News.

Previously, Mr. McFaul served in the Obama administration for five years, first as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Russian and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council at the White House (2009–2012) and then as U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation (2012–2014).

Professor McFaul will discuss his new book, Autocrats vs. Democrats: China, Russia, America, and the New Global Disorder, and why we must reject the thinking that we’re entering a new Cold War in order to prevail.
