Statement on Racial Justice

The Santa Clara County Democratic Party joins those who are mourning the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and Tony McDade. We share in the anger and frustration that is propelling so many people into the streets to demonstrate and demand justice for Black lives being taken by those who are supposed to protect and serve. These injustices cannot continue…

We are all reaching out to neighbors and community heroes to show support and thank the people that are getting us through this crisis. 2020 Democratic Victory Dinner Postponed

Our Democratic Victory Dinner event scheduled originally for May 29, 2020 has been postponed due to the COVID-19 shelter in place order. Like you, we’re hopeful our community will be able to return a more normal level of activity soon, but it became clear we would not be able to hold an event of that nature and size on the originally scheduled date.

We’ll get the word out to you if we’re able to reschedule the event later this year, and we’ll be back with a fabulous event next Spring at the latest.

In the meantime, during this uncertain time we have for now continued to maintain our permanent office and our part-time paid staff member, which enable us to have a year-round presence in the community, and we incur other monthly expenses for campaign finance reporting and new services we’re using to organize online. Everyone’s first priority, of course, should be to care for themselves and the needs of their family and the most vulnerable members of our community. But for those who are able and are not already members of our monthly donor program, please consider setting up a $10 per month donation using the page here:

https://act.myngp.com/Forms/537977911406103296

We’ll be proud to add you to our honor roll of sustaining donors!

Regards,
Bill James
Santa Clara County Democratic Party Chair
