Stop the Republican Recall

The recall is powered by a partisan, Republican coalition of national Republicans, anti-vaxxers, QAnon conspiracy theorists, anti-immigrant activists and Trump supporters. They want to overturn Governor Newsom’s election, and their victory could threaten California’s efforts to fight COVID-19.

National Day of Unity and Remembrance – Jan 19 –
Remember Those Lost to COVID

We have asked cities and towns in Santa Clara County to observe a National Day of Unity and Remembrance by illuminating their city hall and/or other public buildings the evening of Tuesday, January 19 as a non-partisan expression of national unity and remembrance of the nearly 400,000 Americans who have died in the COVID pandemic.  The City of San Jose has confirmed it will illuminate San Jose City Hall in gold light as part of this observance, and we anticipate other cities and towns will participate.

In addition, we are asking local faith communities to toll bells or make other solemn public observances at 2:30pm Pacific time, to coincide with an event in Washington, D.C. in which the Biden Inaugural Committee will illuminate the Reflection Pool at the Lincoln Memorial in memory of those lost to COVID.

Santa Clara County residents can join in these observances by lighting a room at the front of their home at 5:30pm Pacific time.
