We heard about Postcard activity for Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV), SCCDP campaign activity via the SCC United Democratic Campaign, the May 11 fundraiser for our Central Valley partners, SCCDP Central Valley phone banks and canvassing opportunities, an election update, the Central Committee election, club reports, and officer and director reports. 

Join the Santa Clara County Democratic Party to help flip the House. We will make calls into CD-13 and CD-22 to get out the primary and general election vote.

Democratic Central Committee Election

The Santa Clara County Democratic Central Committee is the governing body of the Democratic Party in our County.  Every four years, six Central Committee Members are elected from each of the six Assembly Districts in Santa Clara County.  These election contests appear on the same ballot page as the Presidential Primary contest.  

The boundaries of the six Assembly Districts do not align with the boundaries of the County, so each Assembly District is home to a differing number of Democratic voters.  In order to balance representation to account for these differences, the Central Committee bylaws define a procedure for appointing additional elected-equivalent members.  These additional members are selected from the runners-up in the six contests, in order of their rank by votes cast.  The total number of Members from each Assembly District are as follows:

DO NOT vote for more than six candidates. The Central Committee will add the elected equivalent members, in order of their rank by votes cast.

The Registrar of voters does not post candidate statements for the Central Committee elections.  The League of Women Voters has posted candidate statements in the past, but has not done so for this election.  Voters seeking information about the candidates can do a Google search for:

Invite you to attend a presentation on “Communications for Candidates”.

SCCDP Communications Director John Comiskey will cover the basics of formulating your message and getting it out to voters. The presentation will consist of basic communication skills for first time and novice candidates, campaign volunteers, and others. More experienced attendees are welcome. 

Better candidates will run better campaigns, resulting in better office holders being elected. 

The presentation will be given the third Thursday each month from March through June from 7 PM until 9 PM. Those dates are 3/21, 4/18, 5/16, and 6/20. The presentation is the same each time. You do not need to attend more than once.

The presentation will be given in person at the SCCDP headquarters at 2901 Moorpark Avenue, Suite 110, San Jose, CA 95128.
